Bad breath is a common hygiene issue that makes you feel embarrassed. Many reasons cause bad breath, such as dental cavities, gum disease, poor oral hygiene, coated tongue, etc. Here are some ways to get rid of bad breath.
(1) Brush and floss your teeth frequently
At least brush your teeth twice and floss at least once a day to remove food particles and bacteria trapped between your teeth and gum line. Brush your teeth or use the mouthwash after every meal as you can to prevent the formation of bad breath.
(2) Clean your tongue
The surface of your tongue is a place where the bacteria love to accumulate and form a layer of film. It causes an awful smell. Clean your tongue by toothbrush when you brush your teeth. You can also use a specialized tongue scraper.
(3) Care about what you eat
Avoid eating garlic and onion that may cause bad breath. Both garlic and onion sulfur compounds which promote the growth of odor-causing bacteria. Besides, eating not enough carbohydrates may lead to bad breath. It will activate the body to burn fat instead of sugar and cause bad breath.
(4) Drink more water
Not enough saliva causes dry mouth and bad breath. Saliva flow helps to wash away food debris, clean the mouth and discourage bacterial growth. Keep drinking water or chewing sugar-free gum can stimulate the production of saliva. Drinking less coffee and alcohol which may cause dry mouth.
